Pamamanhikan ng mga De Leon

De Leon? I really can't believe, in a few months time I'm going to be Mrs. De Leon na!!!

So there we were, last June 11 , 2005 Mommy Nena, his brother Ferdi and Manuel went to our house to formally asky not just my mom but my whole family for my hand in marriage! I was so touched coz in very short notice my whole family was there to witness the first ever pamamanhikan in our generation! My lola and mom welcomed his family, while I stood on some place where I won't be noticed. Without any rational explanation, I feel uneasy or should I say .. windang!

As usual, the date of the wedding was finalized .. December 1, 2005 (wala na talaga atang urungan!) and it will be at the Paco Park. My ever loving Mom even told my future mother-in-law, that I don't know any housechores! Salamat Mama! But according to her, she only said that so Mommy Nena wouldn't have to expect anything from me. My Mommy Nena replied that she would teach me and Manuel all we have to learn to run a decent home. Jealousy was also a topic, and surely Trust, Love and Respect are the very foundations of a lasting and happy marriage. They brought lots and lots of food (pics to follow), grabe! Lechon Kawali, Kalderetang Baka, Pancit Canton/Bihon, Sweet and Sour Giant Lapu-Lapu, Macaroni Salad! I added Roasted Chicken and my Tita Idang brought home-made gelatin (yum!yum!)! Just imagine the calories and pounds I gained in just one sitting!

Turned out, the long awaited meeting of our folks was successful. I also felt that my Mom is now slowly swallowing the truth that her eldest daughter is getting married soon. Kayanin sana ng powers namin ito Lord! 5 months to go!

A Funny Marriage Proposal

Last June 4, my Teltel and I celebrated our 62nd mini anniversary! Then the long awaited official marriage proposal happened, to my surprise...

We have been planning to visit Fort Santiago in Intramuros coz I have told him that the park has been really developed. That morning, he called me up to check whether I woke up early so we can stroll in the park without having to be scorched by the noon sun. He asked me: "Where will we have lunch?", I replied: I don't want to decide on it now, let's talk about it later!", then he said: "Be, today is the day that you have to decide." ..... Huh? Teltel kept on emphasizing that June 4 is a wonderful day, the sun is shining (coz he prayed for the rain not to pour) and that he loves me .. kilig!!!

Since their house is near the Fort, I decided to just fetch him from his house so at least I get to say hi to his mom! There we were, after a long struggle of getting to the Fort through unknown shortcuts. I'm glad he was excited and amazed about how the Fort has changed.

We walked, talked, and he kept on telling me: "Be, it's a lovely day isn't? I love you... or he would just say out of the blue... "Naku mahal na mahal ko talaga itong babaeng ito!" then he would hug me real tight and kiss me on the cheek or hair.

I said to myself... maybe, Teltel is planning to propose (with the ring this time) because of all the clues he's been showing. I can feel that he's dying to tell me something. We came to a spot where we just passed by the museum which is overlooking the golf course just beside the Fort, and then he stoped and grabbed me to a halt... then said...

"Be, sandali lang, dito muna tayo." He was suggesting to sit right under the shade of a mango tree which I said was overlooking a golf course. Now, I think I'm pretty sure of his intention, and I'd rather he propose to me in a more romantic spot. Harhar! So I pulled him and told him that we should visit the museum first before making any stops. As usual he gave in to my request.

Afterwards, we again returned to that under the mango tree spot, and again he asked if we could stay there for a while and talk. I refused and said that I was tired and we can have a chat instead in the botanical garden/ picnic area which is near the snack bar. So I dragged him for a refreshment.

So he bought me a coke light in can, yan yan, and for himself he bought a regular coke in can. I can feel his nervousness, and he kept on insisting that we eat in a more secluded area (an area where tables are exposed to the sun). Finally, we stayed in a round table with an umbrella just in front of the snack bar.

Then he complained of his aching feet. He has high uric acid kc. He kept on reaching for his foot, massaging it. Then I told him that he should lose weight and watch his diet .. blah.. blah... While he continued to complain about his left foot, and reaching for it, he slowly bent his right knee, and there he was kneeling beside me while I was sipping my coke!

I was shocked. I can just imagine my eyes pop out of amazement! I immediately told him: "Be, tumayo ka jan! Anu ka ba... tayo ka jan!"

So he smiled, sat on the chair and said: "Be, tagal na ng pinagsamahan natin, dapat dati ko pa ito ginawa. Papakasalan mo ba ako?"

"Matagal ko ng sinagot iyan" I said.

"Gusto ko marinig ulit." he said.

While I was sipping my coke through my straw, and with both my hands glued to my soda can, I uttered .. MMM-MMM (nodding).

"Anung MMM-MMM?" he said.

"Siyempre." I replied.

He tried to open the box to show me the ring. Then I said: "Be... mamaya mu na lang buksan iyan."

"Bakit?"

"Hindi ko ata kaya makita!" --- Inarte na naman ako!

"Sige na", he even said, he was the one who chose the diamond, and had the store open their vault so he can pick out the best one ( he used lenses and researched on the how to choose the best rock!) He added: "Bakit natatakot ka ba sa ginastos ko jan?". It's true, I'd really feel guilty if the ring he's give me is so so expensive!

So I said, "Ok, just give me 6 minutes to prepare myself!"

6 minutes passed.

He opened the box, and... I closed my eyes (hehehe).

Then I told him to just wear it on my finger. He did. And when I opened my eyes, there it was, a sweet diamond, placed in a tiffany styled (accdg to him) ring. I loved it. Simple but elegant. Haaaayyyy... It was really worth the wait.

I love you Bebe. So much.

Kathy's Dad's Wake

Our Friendly Friends' condolences to Cathy and her family for the lost of her Dad... surely he has gone to the Paradise God has promised.

We went to Kathy's Dad's wake in Las Pinas yesterday, June 2. Dionne, Joven, Iyay and myself met in our Office in Pasay, then went to Blue Wave in Dios. Macapagal Blvd. to meet the rest of our friends... Anne, Sam, Beej, Mem, and surprisingly.. Andrew! Had a quick dinner at Jollibee then sped off to Las Pinas coz, it was already quite late.
