One Month to Go

Yes, it’s been two months and I haven’t updated our blog. So what’s new?

One month to go and we’re ALMOST done with everything, down to the itty bitty details of how the misalette would look like, the script of the emcee, table set-up, confetti and other kikay stuff are all ready for our big day…. Here’s an update of what we’ve been up to for the past two VERY BUSY months of September and October…

Church – St. Pancratius Chapel
We were so eager in paying the final installment for the St. Pancratius Chapel in Paco Park, but we were told to comply with all the requirements first, including the seminar and canonical interview before we could give our final payment. Okay…. So all our documentary requirements are ready for submission on November 4, 2006, just in time for our Canonical Interview. What would the priest ask us? Hmmmm….

Reception Venue - Teatrillo
Done. Fully paid.

Gowns and Barong
All my entourage female members’ measurements were already taken by Tita Beng (mom of a former officemate in LRTA). There would be a fitting on the 11th of November and final fitting/distribution on the 18th. We were also able to pick a barong and pants for Manuel just last weekend! Final installment of payment, upon delivery.

Caterer – Kusina ni Kambal
Fully Paid. We have to set another meeting with Kusina so that we can see the actual arrangement of the guest table and that of the principal sponsors. We also gave them a picture of how we would like the couple’s table be set-up. We will not have the usual gazebo since I feel both of us won’t fit in there! Hehehe, parang masikip. And besides according to Kusina, their gazebo is so tall it wouldn’t fit inside the Teatrillo because of their low ceiling.

Invitations – Unifair
So we thought I’d do-it-myself our invites. Just felt it would also be costly so we chose the reasonably-priced Unifair. Erwin and Shirley were both very accommodating and promised to have them ready for pick-up by first week of November. I try to call them every week to follow-up on the progress, and as of yesterday our invites are already in production. I’m already excited of how they will turn out!

Photo and Video – Junasan Digital
We already had our pre-nup last September 24 at the Pag-Asa Observatory but prior to that, had a really upsetting hair and make-up experience with the F Salon. I had to re-do my make-up myself! To add up to the disappointment, the photographer came 1 hour late and told us that the client scheduled ahead of us came an hour late too. We were so pissed off that we called George Junasan and informed him of the situation. We proceeded with the pictorial (not on our best moods) so as not to waste the time and money spent for the day. George assured us that the photographer will not be late on our wedding day… aba dapat lang!

Entertainment/ Music – SJT Strings/ Sound System
Already finalized and submitted our songlist!
Paid in full the sound system to be used in the reception.

Coordinator – Marlene Flores
E-mailed her the program flow and script to be used in the program that I adapted from a close friend’s wedding (you know who you are). Thanks friend! Marlene and I will meet on November 4 to talk about wedding details.

Wedding Bands – China City Plaza
Done. Got a real deal with this one.

Bridal Car – Adeb Trans
Paid downpayment. Great deal too!

Hotel for Bridal Preps – Manila Hotel or Manila Pavilion?
Will find out next week!

Misalette – DIY
Already for production c/o my Mom.

Shoes
Purchased from Wade and Linea Italia. Manuel is so passionate about Italian shoes kasi.

AVP
On-going development by Manuel’s brother, Ferdy. The other AVP to be prepared by my sister Iyay and her BF Chano.

Wed Updates (August)

It was a productive wedding prep weekend...

Confirmation Certificate

After singing the national anthem during the opening of the bowling tournament last Saturday at Robinson's Place Manila Paeng's, I headed to Manuel's house, then went for lunch at the SR Thai Cuisine. Wonderful wonderful Seafood rice! The resto is located along P.Noval Street... and I must say I miss being a student!

Then, we went to get a copy of my confirmation certificate, while Manuel was having tummy problems (ahehehe). Later on, we decided to finally buy our...

We were able to buy a good deal from China City Plaza located along Ongpin.. imagine getting an almost 50% discount?!!! I guess my charm has its rewards! Ahehehe! Or maybe the Chinese owner just got really tired with my impossible negotiations?!?!

Manuel and I are both very happy.. we kept on trying it on, on our way home. Grabe.. excited na ko!

We were also able to get a copy of his baptismal certificate from Sta. Cruz Church.

Save the Date Card

The following day, we went to Cubao to buy materials for our Save The Date Cards. These we intend to give to our prospect ninongs and ninangs when we visit them (which is hopefully this weekend). And just yesterday we (Kia and myself) finally came up with our proud product!

Yesterday, I also went to look for Manuel's attire... hope we could have this one finalized soon!

This Friday, I'd be picking up my Baptismal Certificate from OLMMP.

Haaayyyy...

Wed Updates (Panic Mode)

With less than 4 months to prepare for the big day, here are our updates:

CHURCH - ST. PANCRATIUS CHAPEL
I'll pay balance Monday next week. Almost done.

RECEPTION VENUE- TEATRILLO-CASA MANILA
To pay balance also on Tuesday next week. Almost done.

CATERING - KUSINA NI KAMBAL
Paid almost 75% of contract price. To pay balance 1 month prior to event.

GOWNS - FEMALE
Paid 50% of contract price. 3 of the female entourage members still for measurement taking, schedule for posting.

GROOM'S ATTIRE
Still looking for supplier. Huhuhu!

PHOTO/VIDEO - JUNASAN PHOTOGRAPHY
Fully paid. Schedule for pre-nup pictorial maybe 2 months prior to event.

BRIDAL CAR - ADEB TRANS.
Pai d 50% of contract price. The remaining balance to be paid after the event.

EMCEE/COORDINATOR - MARLENE FLORES
Paid 20% of contract price. We have yet to finalize the reception program. I've asked a few friends to help me with the program flow (thanks in advance!).

MUSIC - SJT STRINGS
Paid reservation fee. Two months before the wedding, we would have to finalize the song list both for the church and reception that will be played by SJT.

MISALETTE/CORD
My DIY projects that I haven't started with yet! Target: completed by September 2006!

MARRIAGE LICENSE
We will get one on September also because of its 120 day validity period.

INVITATIONS
Hello? We have to finish the entourage list first! Iyay's friend Xol will be printing the invites for us... I'm not sure though if they will be providing for the paper or otherwise. So we have to start coordinating with Xol ASAP! We will also be needing pouches for the invitations in place of the usual envelopes. We tried searching for my preference in Divisoria last Saturday, but we failed! huhuhu! We will try again perhaps next next weekend in Tabora, hope makakita na kami!

UNITY CANDLE
Is there a standard size for this? Where are we going to purchase one?

HOTEL FOR PREPS AND HONEYMOON
Totally, no payments made yet. We are eyeing Manila Hotel for the historic ambiance and Bohol for our honeymoon. However, these are the last of our concerns.

TABLE CENTERPIECES AND OTHER VENUE DECOR
I'm planning to put up additional centerpieces so that the venue will have a feel of the stars theme. I hope that we could have extra budget for these!

So far that's it! I'm sure with the guidance of the Lord, a supportive family and wonderful helpful friends Manuel and I could have the wedding of our dreams!

Glenda and Gloria

Last Monday, work in govt offices and classes in all levels were suspended due to the typhoon Glenda, coincidentally, t'was also the day the 6th SONA of President Gloria was delivered.

I must say, the SONA sounded and looked different. One thing many would agree on is that it was a very POSITIVE and LIGHT approach that worked very well for PGMA. In my opinion, the opposition also got struck with the presentation where all they have to say was: "All she said were unrealistic plans and unrealized accomplishments." If only the increase in economic chuva figures will be felt by the Filipinos then maybe they would have a change of heart.

Going back, Monday work was suspended for govt offices... and guess where I was while the storm ravaged the country? I was working! My ex-officemates would text me: "Lumipat ka pa kasi eh". The night before, my sister also texted me before going to sleep (magkatabi pa kami niyan sa bed ah): "Pa'nu ba yan gisingin na lang kita ng 5am?" Nakakainis na nakakatawa!

When I was a Guidance Counselor before, I enjoyed the work suspensions brought by Typhoons or Storms because if DECS would declare suspension of classes the teaching staff will have their vacation too. When I transferred to LRTA (govt office), I missed being a Guidance Counselor and the "perks" that come with being one, but later on Presidential Proclamations on work suspensions came to our rescue during lazy daisy days! Now, I belong to a private company, seems serious work is the name of the game... though the Management announced that we could go home at 2:30pm, we have work to finish until 4pm. Huhuhu!

Seems, I can't find contentment anywhere I go. On the other had, if I were content then I wouldn't dream of bigger things that may come my way.

Kris Aquino once said: "The greatest lesson I've learned about life is... you can't have it all!"

Well I guess I'll just have to make the best out of my life and wish that it is the path God has drawn for me to take.

Did I make the right choice?

Change really sucks! And after a week of being employed in another company I can't help but think (once in a while) if I made the right decision. There are many trade offs, many of which are important ones, like very competent staff, very good and true friends, not to mention the location is quite near home. I miss the good old times when I just have to act as "conductor of the band" and make sure we play good music. Now, it's different. I'm just a mere musician trying so hard to fit in and be part of a big orchestra. From where I came from, popularity has its rewards, friends and love overwhelming. Now, I have to plant my seeds again, prove my worth to strangers, and pray that I may blossom into a beautiful and radiant individual.

Bloom where you're planted.

From LRTA to ATI

Yup, starting July 17, I have to face a new career challenge. I've been accepted to work at Asian Terminals Inc, basically operates the Ports in South Harbor, Laguna, Bataan and Gen. Santos as Training Specialist. God help me!

Yesterday the whole Line 2 Personnel Office, Butch and Byron surprised me with a going-away lunch treat! They ordered 2 KFC bucket meals, bought a cake, Byron and Elena bought ice cream, Rochelle gave me a pink bag (which is soooo me), and Gloh gave me a pink umbrella (i love it!). I'm totally going to miss you guys! Especially Rochelle's mafia tactics, Glo's butt(need I explain?), Butch's charm and photogenic pictures (hehe), Evan's "OKAY na Ma'am" statement, Vener's effortless humor, Tintin's green jokes, Weng's maniac factor and secrets namin ni Elena! Coincidentally, it was also our Foundation Day so I had to say my goodbyes to all those who have helped me, believed in me and inspired me one way or another like Ma'am Vina, Ma'm Luz, Ma'am Evelyn, Ma'am Ely, Sir Ed, Deputy Administrator Cesar Chavez and Administrator Mel Robles. All of which, I reminded that they'd still be my principal sponsors on my wedding!

To LRTA, thank you for the challenges, struggles and love you have made me experience, for without them I wouldn't be as strong and confident with myself as I am now!
